The Earth Angel Consortium is an association of two or more Blaine’s Travel Club® Volunteers, VIPs, Fallen Angels, Heavenly Hosts, Travel Concierges, Franchisees, Business Partners and Non-profit Beneficiaries (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of opening up a dialog, pooling resources and taking action in saving Mother Earth through the reduction of our carbon footprint, personally, locally and globally.
Examples are, using bio-degradable beverage straws, napkins, paper bags, etc., washable, non-scratching lucite drinkware and metal cutlery, recycle soda, beer, wine and liquor bottles, and replace any plastics with bio-degradable products. Look around your business and do some research to find earth-friendly alternatives.

I encourage all HotSpots to join the Earth Angel Consortium and hang a window sticker in their front window and add a web banner to the footer of their website to announce their participation and to help bring awareness to their patrons & passersby, while encouraging other businesses to join the fight to save Mother Earth! |
Talk with Bars, Restaurants and Retail Businesses in your neighborhood and organize a "Neighborhood Beautification Raffle & Pub Crawl!" This may include, but not limited to, areas that need sprucing up like vacant lots that need rubber tire removal and mowing, the shoulder along the road that needs the removal of car bumpers and sweeping, and even abandoned buildings in the neighborhood that need a fresh coat of paint.
Any trash that is collected should be separated and disposed of properly or sold to recycling plants in the area, using the money to pay for paint, brooms, shovels, etc. or donate the money to a local charity, decided upon by a vote of the participating Earth Angels!
After a fun and eventful day of "Neighborhood Beautification" the Bars & Restaurants in the area will orchestrate a Pub Crawl, offering food and drink, to thank the volunteers for a Job Well Done! Retail businesses may offer prizes for a Raffle at each bar included in the pub crawl.

When I was a kid, I remember taking our soda bottles to the local grocery store and getting a refund of 5¢ for each bottle, unfortunately they stopped this practice years ago and I often wondered why.
Was it a financial headache, did it cause bug infestations at the grocery stores or did the soda companies just want every bottle to look shiny & new holding their delicious products.
Personally, I thought the more scratches and chips the glass bottle had, the better it's contents tasted, sort of like a fine aged wine!
|
I would love to see the return of the bottle refund, so much so, that I would love to work with any bottler to recreate the Bottle Refund Program (aluminum cans and plastic bottles too), but instead of cash, offer Twenty-Five (25) Travel Points per bottle.
